Chapter 6
There are times where I believe technology is important in a classroom. It may help certain students learn things in an easier way. That being said there are times when technology seems to be used as a crutch. It may not be needed but it is used for an easy way out of doing work. I think using computers too much can also make a teacher feel distant and not as approachable. Instead of getting personal time with the teacher and working through problems, the student may resort to becoming introverted and not gain the social skills they need for later in life.
Chapter 11
Audio technology:
- Audiocassets--Traditional
- Internet Audio--Emerging
I can use audiocassets to possibly do a lesson on speech. I can have the students record themselves on the tape and play it back for them. This exercise would be most helpful to a teacher who is teaching a foreign language. I can use the Internet audio to post a lecture online so students who were not able to make it to class can still have access to it. This way they may get examples that were spoken and not just written on the notes.
Visual technology:
- Print Materials--Traditional
- Digital Projectors--Emerging
The print materials, such as books or articles, can help a student follow along during class and have something they can write notes on or highlight. The digital projector can help the class as a whole view something instead of a select few at a time. This can show a presentation onto a large screen so the class can see it and be lectured easier.
